We let you sign and edit the shared document as our featured performer because we want everyone to feel welcome and as part of our community. We want be fair, we want everyone to come in good and humble attitude because everyone deserves a chance to be heard. First come, first serve basis.
We advocate this space as a free flowing performance space, meaning that artists and musicians come in and out when they need to at any time of their journey. Some may need time off from performing to work on songwriting, practice more, form a band, work on production, recording at the studio, and do marketing and research. Our regular weekly Open Mic meetings is a place to share ideas weekly, have fun, make friends, create a network, and ask others for help in other areas we need.
Our spaces are safe and a haven for performance exploration. So remember to practice, the stage and mic is for performance, yet at the same time be spontaneous, as Open Mics are for fun and will prepare you for serious and bigger gigs as well. Feel free to jam with others and don't be so serious, have some fun! We promise, its so fun! Our events are regular and here for you to hone your craft. Our Open Mics are artist-centric, but of course you’re welcome to invite your friends to watch since it is free. You will meet many other artists and musicians to learn, share, and collaborate with. We are in this together.
Open Mic is free to play and free to watch. We never charge artists or entrance for guests because this is a safe haven and space is created especially for beginning artists to explore and to hone our craft in performance. We are building the foundation and community giving opportunities for all artists and musicians to jam, meet, get connected, converse and understand the current music and art scene better.
There are many great music and art communities and productions with similar advocacies to be part of out there!
Please also feel free to invite live artists who draw and beginning photographers who want to hone their craft for gig photography as well.
We have several guidelines regarding our event.
PROGRAM: 7:30PM Open Jam/Soundcheck and introduction to host/organizers and performers
8:30PM onwards Show Proper Begins with 8 Featured Performers per gig for the first half (15 minutes or roughly 3 songs each)
-For the Open Mic Segment for walk in performers, we draw a hat and allow each performer 5-10 mins or 1-2 songs each and we makes rounds with what time allows. Depends on number of performers. Hosts make the call.
Jojo or Bernard are our current soundtechs, please kindly acknowledge them, and they will help you out with your sound needs.
Introduce yourselves and get to know each other, listen, memorize and sing along (if you can and want to) and appreciate each others performances, give each other tips and advice on how to do improve and do better, compliment on a great performance you like, learn from each other and get connected to expand your network. Let your walls come down, be open, friendly, and kind to each other. We advocate friendship and camaraderie.
We are a community. So share the love!
If you need to leave early, please do let the hosts know and we'll place you at an earlier slot. and... As we start doing more showcases we call SOUNDSCAPE, we will start inviting solo or group acts by genre and create themes. We will shift to more audience-centric events to create a following as well as collaborate on creating other collaborative music and art projects and busking opportunities.
